
A teenager has been charged following an investigation into a crash that killed a man in Silverdale on 19 February.
Police said emergency services were called to Silverdale Road, near Avoca Road, after reports a northbound Mazda6 sedan and a southbound Subaru station-wagon collided.
An 18-year-old man, who was a front-seat passenger in the sedan, died at the scene.
The driver of the sedan, a 17-year-old man, suffered wrist and facial injuries and was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment and underwent mandatory testing.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 54-year-old man, was also taken to Liverpool Hospital as a precaution and underwent mandatory testing.
Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command established a crime scene and with the assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU) commenced investigations.
Following extensive inquiries, the 17-year-old man was arrested at Penrith Police Station on 25 February and charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death- speed over 45 over limit, dangerous driving occasioning death- drive manner dangerous and negligent driving (occasioning death).
The teenager is due to appear in court on 10 March.
