TV legend turned best-selling author, Judy Nunn, is coming to The Hills to meet her loyal fans.

The former Home and Away actress will be at the Pioneer Theatre on Wednesday 15 November for one night only to discuss her latest historical read, Black Sheep.

Her novel dives into the lives of a prosperous and wealthy sheep-farming family and their encounter with a mysterious young man with a haunting past. It’s a story of power, relationships, and the lengths people will go to keep their secrets hidden.

Judy is looking forward to her upcoming author talk and engaging with fans and book lovers alike.

“It seems an absolute age since I last had a real, live connection with my readers. And by that, I mean a face-to-face, have a good talk and a laugh, look everyone in the eye connection,” Judy said.

“My last novel, Showtime, was bogged down by Zoom meetings with libraries due to the Covid lockdown – and what’s more the second year of Covid lockdown when everyone was thoroughly ‘zoomed out’.

“I felt no connection at all. The whole process seemed so remote, and for an old creature of the theatre like me who loves an audience and the warmth of human interaction that was a terrible thing.

“So Black Sheep will see me able to travel the country telling all those wonderful readers who love books about my new novel.”

Judy has written over 17 novels and a collection of short stories. Her novels have consistently topped bestseller lists, and she has also sold over one million copies.

Her first three stories, The Glitter Game, Centre Stage, and Araluen, became instant bestsellers. Since then, Judy has developed a love of writing Australian historically based fiction, and this has only increased her fame as a novelist, with her books read worldwide.

Judy said that she loves the research involved in writing a novel and developing her characters.

“As I’ve often said, the research necessary in the writing of historically based fiction reveals many weird and wonderful things, proving the adage that fact is certainly stranger than fiction. These discoveries are positively inspiring, which is one of the reasons I love writing historically based books,” Judy said.

“But I have to admit it’s the creation of the characters who inhabit my books that gives me the greatest joy.

“This has certainly proved the case with ‘Black Sheep’. I hope my readers will find these characters as absorbing as I did.”
