The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) is urging you to prepare now for bushfire season and to come along to the Get Ready Weekend 17 to 18 September at your local Rural Fire Station.
Use the map at rfs.nsw.gov.au/news-and-media/getready to find out the time, day, location and to get directions to your local Brigade. Hawkesbury City Council is also encouraging the community to get ready, the Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Sarah McMahon said.
“The Hawkesbury, along with so many parts of Australia, has seen devastating bushfires, and communities are in ongoing recovery from the fires,” the Mayor said.
“The NSW RFS is leading Get Ready Weekend over 17 to 18 September and landholders are encouraged to prepare bushfire plans, prepare your properties and seek advice from their local brigades.”
It’s your chance to chat to your local volunteers, find out more about what they do, and learn how to protect yourself and your home from bushfires. This year you can also find out more about the new Australian Fire Danger Rating System www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/news-and-media/newfdr
The Get Ready Weekend is an awareness campaign encouraging property owners to prepare for bushfires. Many brigades will also have activities for kids. For details see rfs.nsw.gov.au/news-and-media/getready
