Missing swimmer’s body found: Laughtondale

The body of a man who went missing while swimming in the Hawkesbury River at Laughtondale on Monday has been located.

About 6.10pm (Monday 17 January), emergency services were called to the river, near Wisemans Ferry, following reports of a missing swimmer.

Police were told a 32-year-old man – who was on a houseboat with family and friends – went for a swim near the boat and failed to resurface.

Officers attached to Hawkesbury Police Area Command, with assistance from the Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue NSW, Maritime Services, NSW State Emergency Services (SES), Westpac Rescue Helicopter and local boaters commenced searching for the man.

Following an extensive search, the man’s body was located in the river about 2.50pm today (Wednesday 19 January).

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
