
Two teenagers, both provisional licence holders, had their licenses immediately suspended and were charged after being caught allegedly street racing along Windsor Road, Kellyville on Saturday night (5 February).
A Hyundai Tucson and a Volkswagen Golf heading west side-by-side, were clocked allegedly travelling at 142km/h in a 60km/h zone around 10pm.
Police stopped the Hyundai on Wrights Road, before the Volkswagen left the scene.
The driver of the Hyundai – a 17-year-old male – was issued with a Court Attendance Notice for class A motor vehicle exceed speed over 45km/h – lidar, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous and street racing, organise, promote race between vehicles.
His licence was immediately suspended.
A short time later, police attended a home on Shuttle Parade at Schofields, and spoke to an 18-year-old man, the alleged driver of the Volkswagen.
He was issued with a Court Attendance Notice charged with class A motor vehicle exceed speed over 45km/h – lidar, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous and street racing, organise, promote race between vehicles.
His licence was immediately suspended, and his registration plates were seized for a period of three months.
Both drivers are due to appear before a children’s court and Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 30 March.
