Pulse FM hands over Flood Relief Cheque to Richmond Rotary.

February 12, 2026

The Hawkesbury Flood Relief Concert which featured iconic Australian guitarist Kevin Borich and supported by local talent, Jed Zarb, Mady Disbray, Matt Charnley, and the James Brothers, was held at the Richmond Club at the end of last month. The event organized by Pulse 89.9 FM Community Radio in Hawkesbury raised $3489.00 for people affected by the recent floods. The cheque was handed over to Jo Dunstan, President of Richmond Rotary at the studios of Pulse 89.9 FM in Magnolia Mall Richmond by Richard Griffiths Chair, Cathy Stevenson Public Officer of Hawkesbury Community Media Network Association, and station Manager Kathryn Gene.

This was an event that organizer Richard Griffiths said, “was a must for the people of Hawkesbury to get out, dance have fun and at the same time give to those in need in Hawkesbury.” Station manager Kathryn approached Kevin Borich who was more than happy to be a part of helping the Hawkesbury after the continual flooding “What has happened in the Hawkesbury has been devastating, I hope that my part can help the Hawkesbury” Kevin said, who was so taken back by the support the concert received.

Kathryn said, “at PulseFM we act as a communication tool for the local community and cater to their needs. Recently the station has been asking questions on behalf of the Yarramundi, North Richmond, and Colo Height communities regarding water meters and live traffic. We certainly do not think that the listed communities receiving Live Traffic recently was all our doing. Still, we did talk about it on the radio to government officials regarding this safety requirement for flood-stricken communities. When we asked Kathryn and Richard what was next, Kathryn said they were already onto the next Community asset “after attending a media conference in Pitt Town we realized the gravity of the lack of communication for Pitt Town and areas such as McDonald Valley and Colo Valley. We have spoken to the Hawkesbury SES, and Pulse FM is now working with them on the possibility of purchasing a COW (Cells on Wheels) to be used as needed by the community”

Pulse 89.9 Fm would like to thank the Richmond Club, Prismatic Group, Crown Plaza, Richmond Rotary, The Independent Magazine, and all the local talent, Kevin Borich and his band Chris Spanjol, Brendon Venner and Richard Griffiths, but most importantly the Hawkesbury Community.
